  6. 2011 European Year of Volunteering

Twenty-five selected participants, coming from ten different L.L.P. countries, will meet volunteer organizations in Messina and its districts, working in the field of social inclusion. Our solidarity commitment is aimed at promoting and supporting experiences of social and fair trade economy, in a system able to carry out real actions of social and working inclusion for marginalized people. We will highlight volunteer experiences that promote forms of ethically oriented and sustainable consumption ( i.e. organic food, agricultural products realized in farmlands confiscated to criminal organizations). The participants will be able to see local experiences managed by volunteers in the field of responsible and social tourism, fair trade, with a particular focus on gastronomy and sustainable tourism. Study visits will be organized in these structures so that the participants could share their experiences with social workers ( i.e. in slow food restaurants, social farms). Our guest participants will enjoy a guided tour to discover Sicilian traditional sights and flavours and be able to share their ideas, experiences about good practice linking volunteering and social economy, in order to support people, local communities and their traditions.
